Our Hunger Prevention Center has expanded allowing us to help even more families struggling to put food on the table, and we want to help you! Clients are eligible to obtain food assistance through the ACTS Hunger Prevention Center once per month. Food is distributed on a walk-in basis. No appointment needed.
There are two ways you can receive food:
Without Documentation - One time assistance
- Emergency Bag
- Main Bag + Bread + Peanut Butter
With Documentation - Ongoing Assistance
- Main Bag
- USDA Bag (if qualified)
- Pet Food
From May to November we occasionally have additional produce provided by the local farmer’s market which we have available outside the HPC for you to share.
Even though the Affordable Care Act provided millions of people with insurance coverage for prescription medications, not everyone qualified. Based on available funding, we can provide limited prescription assistance if you have no insurance.
Health and Wellness Program
In addition to providing food assistance, we want to provide you with resources that will help you maintain, or improve, your overall health. Acts Health and Wellness Program will provide clients with the knowledge and access to information regarding their dietary needs. In the coming months, the program will also feature guided classes with Wegmans' Head Chefs where clients can learn to cook on a better budget as well as learn to cook with things that they can receive through the Hunger Prevention Center. Spaces are limited.
Operation Give Thanks
This year's Thanksgiving project has a new name: Operation Give Thanks. Why the name change? This is necessary to avoid confusion with another organization who has an established online presence using the name Operation Turkey. Operation Give Thanks will begin on November 1st and continue through November 26th. The Hunger Prevention Center appreciates your continued support in its efforts to provide food to those in need in our community.
