Employment Program Job Coach

The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Case Manager, who is responsible for providing assistance in locating employment opportunities for graduates of a Certified Nurses’ Assistant training course as well as job coaching. Some evenings or weekends hours may be required. This is a 20 hour a week non exempt position. Incumbent assist Case Manager in the conduct of the Employment Program. Attend and facilitate staff training as required. Train, coach advise and assist participants on daily job hunting tasks and goals in the ACTS Programs. Maintain accurate attendance data, monitors participants progress towards Individualized Employment Plan goals and objectives. Assist participants with career exploration through employment search and other career-related activities, assist with coordination and facilitation of job site tours, career fairs, job fairs, workshops and other career related activities, assists participants with resume writing and interviewing techniques, and assists participants with establishing short and long term career goals and career plans for mobility and progression.  Performs research and/or statistical work as assigned, collect career services data and prepare reports. Assist an agency representative at public speaking engagements. A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university is required, two year’s experience in job coaching or supportive counseling. Ability to communicate well and interact with the public through public speaking venues and knowledge in labor relations, employment and staffing. Website at www.actspwc.org. Shelter Advocate

Turning Points Shelter Advocate works under the supervision of the Shelter Coordinator, who is responsible for maintaining a secure, clean, and supportive environment for battered women and children residing in the safe house. This position is Part Time. The incumbent ensures the safety and comfort of the safe house residents. While on duty, oversees all shelter activities and enforce house rules.  Conducts client intake/exits, works with clients on establishing and working towards goals, interacts and give support to clients, when needed.  Use active listening and crisis intervention skills, intervene and handle any emergency situations that may arise, and provide crisis intervention when needed.  Give and receive briefing with day staff concerning Turning Points clients and other safe house activities. Enter client services into the VADATA system. Must have a basic understanding of domestic violence, ability to communicate both orally and in writing, ability to handle stressful situations with equanimity, and must demonstrate the ability to provide a calm environment for people facing a crisis.
