HOMELESS SHELTER

Location: 17866 Main Street, Dumfries, VA 22026
Phone Number: 703-221-3188
Fax Number: 703-221-4645

The ACTS Emergency Homeless Shelter is a 17 bed facility, providing emergency short term housing to families and singles.  Admission of residents to ACTS’ Emergency Homeless Shelter is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Each client’s needs are assessed based on individual circumstances; time frames are given for each goal/objective and are reviewed or altered during case management reviews. Supportive services available include but are not limited to intensive case management, day care assistance if qualified, life skills classes (i.e., parenting, financial training/budgeting, motivational, job & interview skills, and housing counseling), and Children’s Coordinator’s services. Our hands-on approach assists clients in securing housing and making many needed changes in their lives, and fulfilling ACTS’ mission to “…help people achieve self-sufficiency in the greater Prince William area.”

As part of the Adopt-A-Day program, individuals, churches, businesses and organizations sponsor the shelter for a day of meals for the residents.  Sponsors provide dinner for the residents as well as items for breakfast and lunch the following day.  If you would like to participate in or learn more about our Adopt-A-Day program, please contact Teri Pritchett, Shelter Coordinator, at 703-221-3188.
The Adopt-A-Room program gives the community, one or two families/individuals or even companies, the chance to decorate a room at the shelter. It is our goal to make each room  warm and inviting for our residents.  It is a wonderful opportunity to display and share your creativity!  If you are interested in participating in or learning more about the Adopt-A-Room program or other immediate needs at the shelter,  please contact Teri Pritchett, Shelter Coordinator, at 703-221-3188.
To volunteer, email Beth Lewis.
